Laser hair removal is the most permanent and effective method for removing unwanted hair from nearly all areas of the body. Laser hair removal devices produce light of specific colors and wavelengths. The targeted structure in the skin is determined by the wavelength of the laser beam.

During the laser hair removal process, the laser beam is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, which is most concentrated in the hair itself. The laser energy travels down to the hair's root, where it effectively damages the hair follicle through heat. As treatments progress, the damage to the follicle increases, and the hair that regrows becomes thinner and lighter. With continuous follicle damage, hair growth slows down significantly. Other skin structures are unaffected by the laser, as the energy passes through them without causing harm.
